One day, Zamuxolo Dukuza received a life-changing phone call.
A relative who had seen him interpreting during a church service called and told him to go to the Magistrate Court in Eastern Cape.
When he arrived, Zamuxolo was asked whether he had any experience interpreting. His answer was simple: “Only in church.”
As a young man growing up in South Africa, Zamuxolo had occasionally been asked to interpret for visiting preachers in his region. Because he was familiar with both Xhosa and English, he was often helping missionaries present the gospel more clearly. Over time he became better and better at it. But it was simply a small act of service, not a ministry.

In 1995, fresh out of high school, he made the journey to Eswatini to attend African Christian College with a burning desire to preach the Word of God across the Eastern Cape of South Africa and beyond. His eyes were set on becoming a preacher of the gospel.
As a student, he was often asked to interpret for missionaries, especially as they visited local congregations across Eswatini, where the similarities between Xhosa and Siswati made his skills useful.
“As we traveled on mission trips, preaching and planting churches like the Vuvulane Church of Christ, I was asked to interpret,” he recalled. “That gave me adequate practice and helped me sharpen my skills.”
After completing his studies, Zamuxolo returned to faithfully, but voluntarily serve in his home congregation. Even then, he continued to interpret wherever missionaries came to preach. At this point, he had become very good at it.
That’s when that phone call changed his life.
His experience serving as an interpreter in churches led to a job as Court Interpreter in the Magistrate Court, helping people understand legal proceedings and giving them the opportunity to defend themselves with clarity and dignity.

God uses what Zamuxolo once overlooked to sustain both his calling and his service. Today, Zamuxolo serves as a Senior Court Interpreter while also continuing his ministry as the resident preacher in his local congregation – just like he always dreamed.
At African Christian College, we believe transformation happens not only through academic learning, but through every experience that shapes character, calling, and service. Zamuxolo’s life stands as proof that God blesses faithfulness and turns ordinary acts of service into extraordinary purpose.

Very glad that you are using your God given talent to glorify God.
