Tjengisile Banda’s journey with African Christian College began in 2015 as a student with a passion for growth and service. Today, she returns to campus with that same passion, now shaped by years of experience and purpose.
For Tjengisile, education has never been just about qualifications. It has always been about helping people. After graduating from African Christian College in 2015, she pursued further studies at the University of Eswatini, earning a Postgraduate Certificate in Education. “I have always been passionate about human development,” she shares. “Becoming a teacher at Lechewelight High School allowed me to live out a childhood dream of walking alongside young people as they journey toward their purpose.”

That passion deepened when she joined Hosea’s Heart, an organization committed to restoring hope and healing to young girls overcoming sexual trauma. There, Tjengisile served as both a counsellor and a teacher, investing in the girls academically, emotionally, and spiritually.
“At Hosea’s Heart, human development became even more meaningful,” she reflects. “I was not just teaching. I was building close relationships that transformed how I understood care, connection, and growth.”
These experiences now shape the heart she brings back to African Christian College.
In her new role, Tjengisile is supporting students academically and also walking alongside them in their journey. “African Christian College presents a rare opportunity,” she explains, “to truly connect with students and support their transformation. Here, we study, work, stay, and grow together as a community.”

Beyond her professional life, Tjengisile is a wife and mother. She enjoys spending time with her family, cooking, and being outdoors, often energized by being in the company of others.
As she steps into this role, she carries a clear mission to empower students to become the best versions of themselves academically, spiritually, and personally, while ensuring they have access to quality and relevant resources through the Lyle Harms Library.
