Becoming the Hero of His Story: Molefi’s Journey of Faith and Transformation

In 2010, Molefi was serving in the Defence Force of Lesotho, a position of stability and honor. For most people, that would have been enough. But deep within, he carried a conviction that his life’s story wasn’t complete. “I had a conviction in my heart that I wanted to make my life better and achieve the dream of being an equipped, excellent leader,” he recalls.

Driven by this inner call, Molefi made a bold decision to take a leave of absence from the army and pursue his studies at African Christian College. As expected, not everyone understood his decision. It is never easy to walk away from security in pursuit of an unseen promise. But Molefi trusted that God would make a way.

Molefi entered a community where faith, learning, and service worked hand in hand. Life on campus required hard work and humility. “I learned how to serve and live a life of integrity, built lasting relationships, preached the Word of God, and discovered what it means to live in a faith community,” he reflects. What once felt like sacrifice slowly became a season of growth and transformation from within that would later define his leadership and ministry.

When Molefi completed his studies and returned to the army in 2013, he was no longer the same man who had left two years earlier. He carried not only a degree in theology but also a renewed sense of purpose and calling.

His transformation did not go unnoticed.

“It didn’t take long for my superiors to recognize the change in me,” he says. “I was selected for a one-year training course in India from 2015 to 2016. That opportunity opened new doors and soon after I received my first promotion to Second Lieutenant in January 2017.”

From then on, Molefi’s career grew rapidly, not just in rank but in influence and impact.

Guided by integrity and servant leadership, he continued to rise, being promoted to Captain in 2020, where he was appointed Chief Chaplain of the Defence Force, notably skipping a rank. “Sometimes I look back and thank God for giving me the courage to sacrifice my comfort for a better future,” he says with gratitude.

But the story did not end there.

In 2022, Molefi was promoted again to Major, and in 2024, to his current rank, Lieutenant Colonel. Today, he serves as the Chief Chaplain in the Lesotho Defence Force, providing spiritual leadership and moral counsel to both officers and soldiers. His duties include advising the Commander on religious, ethical, and welfare matters, offering pastoral care, and ensuring the moral and spiritual well-being of the entire Force.

God granted me the opportunity to come to African Christian College for a good reason. I believe He will continue to transform the lives of all who surrender themselves to His service.

Recently, Molefi was selected for further studies in Pennsylvania, USA, where he was pursuing a Diploma in Military Chaplaincy, an achievement his Commander personally honored with a military qualification decoration. “This wouldn’t have been possible without my degree in theology,” Molefi shares. “My heartfelt gratitude to African Christian College. My life was changed in the twinkling of an eye.”

Reflecting on his journey, Molefi is certain that his path was guided by divine purpose. “God granted me the opportunity to come to African Christian College for a good reason. I believe He will continue to transform the lives of all who surrender themselves to His service.”

Molefi’s story is a reminder that becoming the hero of your story requires faith, courage, and a willingness to step beyond comfort.

You, too, can become the hero of your own story.
