My Turn to Challenge Others – Angeles Evans

When I came to African Christian College in 2018, it seemed like this time would not come. There were both good and bad moments whereby I could feel that maybe I should not have come to this place, but seeing others graduating before me gave me hope that my time shall come too.  Now that the time for me to leave this place has come, I am now beginning to feel like three years were not enough, and maybe another three would added. We are people, and we have ups and downs, we fall, and we rise and continue.

Learning in diversity, was the greatest opportunity whereby I got to meet with different cultural backgrounds, beliefs, and values and it helped me to realize that we are all equal and none is superior to the other.

Having lecturers, staff members, students of diverse backgrounds enriched my learning environment, hence, there are a lot of things that I learned socially, economically, spiritually, and academically. From the time I came here until now, I am no longer the same person, and a lot has changed. How I used to view other people is now different. We are human beings, we are not perfect and my experience at this school has taught me not to judge others rather accept them and their differences. This perspective opened better social interactions and deepened friendships.

I also appreciate everyone whom I met here, and I am very sure that each contributed to the new person I am today. The encouragement from my fellow students and my lecturers and the whole of the staff members helped me to pursue my goals at African Christian College. I have gained a lot that I cannot express one by one but I’m grateful to everyone who played a part.

When I go back home, I am going to help others to also achieve their goals. I came here through a former student who just shared his experience at church and the message reached my ears and made me want to come and experience the same thing. Now it is my turn to challenge others to come and study here in the next coming years.  considering what ACC has done for me, I would like also to inform others to come and be equipped the same way I did.
