“When God commissions, he leads the way, and take you through.” My journey to African Christian College is decorated with the Lord’s footprints of grace and favour. In every step that I took every day for the past three years, I saw God directing my steps. And, today as I stand graduating with a Bachelor of Theology degree, majoring in Counselling, All I can say is Ebenezer Lord, you have led me thus far. Thank you King Jesus.
Three years earlier, exactly at around this time, I was on my marks, set and ready to go to Zambia to study education. However, three days before the departing date, I was told that my name was no longer on the list for unknown reasons. I was devastated and didn’t know what to do next after waiting three years for such an opportunity. My hope for acquiring tertiary education looked completely shattered. I know that the Lord God Almighty is always at work. In the midst of those sorrowful moments, I learnt about ACC through a friend, whom I believe was sent by the Almighty. I immediately applied through the help of another God sent angel by the name of Vitumbiko who took care of all the financial requirements of my going to ACC. My hope was restored, my future in my hands.
When I arrived at African Christian College, my fellow brothers from Malawi welcomed me with warm hands and I felt at home away from home. From there onwards, I continued strong in the Lord, worked hard in my studies with help from my colleagues who were always ready to help whenever I felt like I was failing. I made sure that I grab every opportunity that the Lord presented to me including the work-study program that helped pay for my fees and take care of my personal financial needs.
At African Christian College I have learned more than what was taught in class: From using a brush cutter to driving a motor vehicle, singing to preaching, being employed to starting my own business, the list is just endless. Every second that I spent on campus, I was learning something new, most especially from the multi-cultural diversity that exists from students who come from more than ten African countries. It felt like a taste of what heaven will be like when we all get together from the different countries and cultures with our Lord.
I will definitely miss the loving community of African Christian College; playing soccer and dominating other institutions from the Kingdom of Eswatini, travelling around the churches in Eswatini with the school choir and evangelism team, my church (Masundvwini Church of Christ) and the children ministry. It is an experience that I will always cherish, and the memories will forever be in scripted in my mind.
Now that I am graduating fully equipped and ready to serve in the Kingdom of God, my hope and trust is in the Lord who led me to African Christian College. I know that he did not bring me this far to leave me. Wherever he leads, I will follow. With the entrepreneurial skills that I have acquired in addition to the counselling skills, I hope to help the church in my community to start projects that will sustain them. I also want to work with the children ministry and implement some of the ideas that I have learnt at school.
