My name is Promesse Ihimbazwe, born and raised in Rwanda. I carried out my primary and secondary studies in Rwanda, and I managed to pass my national examination with excellent grades because I was courageous and focused. I have various hobbies and interests like spending time with kids, watching movies or playing basketball, football, rugby, and volleyball.
After high school, I worked in an industry that produces juice and then worked in a cybercafé where I specialized in data entry as well as other services like designing, printing, and photocopying. After that, I had an opportunity to work with a non-governmental organization called Rwanda Children where I was a youth coordinator and Patron.
My passion for helping the needy is very strong and I have learned not to wait to be rich to start putting it into practice. That is why in my country I have initiated an association with my friends and workmates whereby we collect a small fund amongst ourselves and donate it to the vulnerable groups in our community.
I’ve been inspired by Mother Teresa when she said, “We can’t help everyone, but everyone can help someone;” and “Not all of us can do great things, but we can do small things with great love.”
Having a positive attitude to everything that happens is my value number one. My father taught me and my siblings that, “No matter what happens, it is significant to preserve a sincere smile on our faces. Even if something bad happens, we always have to find something positive.”
Now that I am at African Christian College doing my first year, I am planning to major in Organizational Leadership because I want to be a servant leader like Jesus. I am looking forward to being thoroughly equipped both academically and spiritually.
African Christian College is a great place to meet people from different nationalities around entire Africa. It is my pleasure to be the first one to represent my country Rwanda. I aspire to be a bridge to my fellow Rwandan to become familiar with African Christian College so that they can start applying in the future. I will try my best to do everything that will exhibit servant leadership in me and I am going to persevere towards my goal until I get there.
