My name is Amina Asali. I come from the Central Region of Malawi but have grown up in the Northern Region part. I am the third born daughter in the family of five children. I was raised by a single mother. I am a Christian member of Church of Central Africa Presbyterian (CCAP). We believe that Jesus died, resurrected after three days, and that he is coming again for the second time.
Being born and raised in a Christian family, I am deeply rooted in Christ. That is why I always thank God for taking me to this place where Christianity is the main thing they offer to students.
Before coming to African Christian College, I was at Chancellor College where I was majoring in Computer Science, but due to financial problems I withdrew from school. As highlighted before, being raised by a single-parent, life was never easy. It is for that reason that I am always motivated to change my family’s history because it affected me so much. I am therefore determined to try my best to accomplish my goal.
I am so thankful to Tionge Chiputa, a second year student, who told me about African Christian College. At first, I didn’t think I was going to make it here due to financial issues we were facing as a family. But I forget that if the finger of the Lord points at you, nobody can stop it, and that he makes impossible things possible. God made everything to work perfectly and, finally, here I am at African Christian College. I thank God for working through my friend Tionge who was always there encouraging me to apply though I seemed to have lost hope. I therefore regard him as someone who changed my life through his motivations.
I am so pleased to be here and I know that it’s not by mistake because God has a purpose for taking me to this far. I am here to serve the Lord in his Kingdom and that I will be well equipped in serving him through the knowledge I am going to acquire at African Christian College.
I am going to major in counselling and I ask God to be with me in my process, because without him, I am nothing and I can do nothing. As a counsellor, I will help people in my community to encourage them to be strong with whatever the situation they go through and let them know that life or family background doesn’t define who you are and what you’re capable of doing. I will encourage them to trust in the Lord and by so doing, the name of the Lord will be glorified.
