I am Walter Chunga, from Zambia. I am a 2014 graduate of African Christian College. The degree I obtained is a major in counseling. I’ve had a lot of experiences after ACC, and I was able to grow into knowing what life is all about and what the world is offering.
Currently, I am working as a teacher, school counselor, and a preacher, all at the same time. I am employed by the government of Zambia and I am based at one of the schools there. It is not easy to mix all three lines of work at the same time. Some work has to be done during weekdays, others on Saturday and then church on Sundays.
But though it is difficult, I have learned how to place my things in order so that it doesn’t get overwhelming. I have learned to combine the roles of a counselor, teacher, and a preacher especially when I am working with children in government and private schools. All the skills are needed in this case because children require special attention.
What makes me strong in my life is that I am always positive even amidst storms of life. It is always good to acknowledge good things that have been happening to us even though we might face bad experiences. Negative encounters should motivate us to keep going knowing that they are still good things we can look at and thank the Almighty.
My life is a living testimony on its own because I have seen God working in my life in so many ways. The most recent experience is being part of the MACM program that is offered by ACU. I am so grateful that I am part of it because it is very necessary. I feel so excited and so grateful to African Christian College and Abilene Christian University for giving me a chance to attend graduate studies. It is going to advance my knowledge in many ways and I need that experience to become competent in my work.
