African Christian College has given me a gift. The opportunity to live and study in Swaziland is a gift. My name is Lilian Nyonya Suuti from Uganda. I had just finished my studies in Business Computing when I found out about ACC. Being raised in a Christian home, I always admired what different family members and friends who attended different congregations were able to do for the kingdom of God in Uganda. The way they ministered to people in various communities including hospitals and prisons and rural areas became a growing inspiration to me. I began to develop a love for service.
However, over the years I have realised that the biggest challenge in serving is meeting the people’s needs. This costs time, ability and money. People desire to serve, and truly they give their all. Nonetheless, they’re always limited by financial challenges that make it hard to reach out to the communities and keep the work of God moving. The vicious cycle of poverty in Africa has not only affected the communities or countries at large but the church as well. Poverty can be viewed as the church’s opportunity to expand and grow the kingdom of God, yet the sad truth is that the same is one of the barriers preventing the church from growing in Africa especially in Uganda.
Looking at all this, my biggest question then became; how I can be of service to those who are in service? Just like Mark was profitable to Paul in the ministry, I developed a strong inspiration to be that profitable woman in the kingdom of God starting in Uganda and spreading out to the world.
In search for an answer, God brought ACC into the picture. Seeing that I had already gone through college, I debated about coming here until I was convinced that God wanted to equip and prepare me specifically for the vision He had put in my heart to serve His servants. While at ACC I will be taking the leadership major so that I can expand my skills and knowledge. My studies here will prepare me to be today’s Mark to today’s Pauls in the church. I am grateful to God for the whole ACC community for the gift it offers. God bless the African Christian College community and the Church.
