I am Tionge Chiputa from the northern region of Malawi. I am the second born son from a family of six children, and I was born on 3 February 1994. I am a member of the Church of Central Africa Presbyterian (CCAP), and a believer in Christ. I realised the importance of believing after being taught in the Scriptures by a pastor named Fabas Kayuni. It became clear to me that the choice of following Christ whilst still alive was the best I can ever make. So in the year 2012, I welcomed Jesus Christ as my Lord and saviour. I was doing Computer Science at Chancellor College in Malawi before I came to African Christian College.
Mbwenu Chirwa, a former ACC student, told me a lot about the college, and he advised me to apply to study here. It was difficult for me to quit what I was doing because I liked the course, but as time went by I eventually made decision that I will apply for a place at ACC. As they say, the rest is history hence I am here pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Theology. When I arrived at ACC, I was so happy because God has united people from different nations, and he is using them to serve in his Kingdom.
I have made a decision to major in Counselling. This is because the area where I come from is filled with many kinds of psychological problems. I have experienced people committing suicide, abusing drugs, especially alcohol. Trauma is also having a field day because of rape cases, and there are few counsellors to deal with such kind of cases. Therefore, if I can be equipped with Counselling skills, I will be able to help people who need to be counselled. This will also help expand the kingdom of God in my home area, to the glory of Jesus.
