Over the years we have had really amazing people from Uganda, The Pearl of Africa. We bring to you one such a gentleman. He is well known for his love of the guitar. His passion for serving and being available for God’s Kingdom work landed him with ACC. Read more from him.
Amutuhaire Kuruka is my name. I am a single, 23 year old, Ugandan male, from the south western part of the country. I was blessed enough to be raised in a Christian family. This enabled me to be involved in church work, especially the children and youth ministry. Such a background gave me opportunities to serve as a leader. Indeed, I was once a youth leader in the youth ministry. I think these experiences planted in me the desire to serve, and more importantly helped me realise my calling in the kingdom of God.
My education path was not easy at all since my childhood, but I am grateful to my parents and family for never losing hope in me. They did whatever they could in order to see me become a better person. As a result, I can truly say, with meaning, that I am where I am today because of their never ending efforts. After my ordinary level I enrolled to technical college where l studied for three years and was awarded an advanced certificate in building and construction in civil engineering.
After that l was hired by a company where l worked for the whole of last year, 2017. In all this time, I was preparing myself to go to another institution to further my studies. I had about three opportunities to choose from; go to seminary, university or come to African Christian College. My pastor had informed me about ACC and the great things done by the college. It was not an easy decision to make at my young age. The question I had to answer was: how can I nurture the desire to serve and also use my career in the church?
The decision making process took long. At the end, I finally chose to come to ACC for theological studies, with an aim to major in Organization Leadership. I think this path is good for me because l have always wanted to be equipped for excellent work in both my career as a technician in building and working for the church, especially in the children and youth ministry. Therefore l look forward to achieving my dream and hunger to serve my fellow youth and the church after the three years at ACC.
