What motivated me to come to African Christian College (ACC) was the work my father was doing after he graduated from Manzini Bible School (MBS). I was not only motivated by his work, but by the fact that he was transformed into being a good preacher and an intellectual. Lastly, the stories he used to tell me about how MBS was not just a school but a community of believers had a profound impact in me. So I thought it wise to come, learn and experience what my family experienced too.
The three years I have spent at ACC have been the best, with some challenges of course. I have had the best time because I have learned a lot about myself, other people and the world at large. On the other hand, I was greatly challenged, especially in my first year because everything – people, the environment, food, culture and other things – was very different from what I knew and was used to. After I realised that our diversity does not make anyone superior to each other, ACC practically become my home and I learned to embrace people different from me and their culture.
I have learnt that I’m valuable and loved by God. As mentioned earlier, I have also learnt to embrace different people and cultures, and that the fact that we have different cultures does not make the other culture better than the other, we are just different. I also got to learn that as much as I cannot be a preacher, I can serve in other ways hence my decision to major in Counselling.
The fact that I cannot undo what I have learned has changed my life. Moreover I do not need to undo what I have learned because my learning is beneficial for me, my family, my community and the Church. ACC has changed me spiritually, emotionally and socially. My thoughts, attitudes and actions have changed as a result of the education I got here.
In conclusion, I can encourage a prospective student out there to be among the 5% of people to be enrolled for higher education in Africa and consider studying at ACC. I also strongly urge current students and prospective ones to become ambassadors of Christ through any kind of major they may want to venture in. Thank You ACC.
