Hearing news from a board meeting seems rather unexciting. However, the January 2013 meeting of the ACC Board of Trustees included several important actions for the future of African Christian College.
All healthy institutions need a strong governance structure and board to be successful. African Christian College is no exception. The members of the board take their job as trustees seriously. They spend significant time ensuring the future strength of the college through the practice of good, healthy, solid governance.
The Board of Trustees established a new set of governing policies for the college consistent with their adoption of a model popularly known as Policy Governance. These policies clearly communicate expectations for staff, volunteers, and students while increasing accountability of financial responsibility and mission accomplishment.
Adopting this new model and policies was difficult. With the professional assistance of Dr. Barry Packer, the board completed the task. ACC now operates under these new standards of accountability and effectiveness.
Our board does not only consider its governance role essential to the present and future success of ACC. Each member is also a financial contributor and volunteer for the organization.
