Storm Water Damages

Retaining wall collapse
Wall next to farm building collapsed during storm.

It has been a strange weather year for Swaziland this year. (Is it global warming?)

Lots of early rain in September and October tricked the orchard into getting ahead of itself. Now we’re expecting a low crop for 2013.

A surprise October storm ripped roofs off of several structures and toppled over 100 trees in our orchard. All in all, it caused about $45,000 in damages.

This morning we found some new surprises left by a much milder storm last night. A bridge across a small creek on our orchard road washed away. And a retaining wall failed in its job and collapsed next to our farm building.

Repairs are underway.
