On 16 October 2012, a surprise storm roared across our campus. It’s most significant structural damage was to various roofs across campus and in toppling over almost 200 orchard trees.
Storm recovery is estimated to be $42,000 (USD). Even before the storm, ACC tries to be wise stewards of our resources by taking preventative measures, preparing for such emergencies as best we can, and doing much of the necessary work ourselves.
Every cent donated toward storm recovery is maximized and prevents the diversion of funds from the college’s regular operations or designated for growth. So far, 15% of the estimated storm recovery costs have been received. Please consider giving now as we work diligently to restore our campus.
The Round House is ACC’s oldest existing structure and stands at the center of our academic campus. It’s thatched roof was damaged in the storm, resulting in major leaks inside that destroyed ceilings and waterlogged much of our textbook collection.
Thanks to donations and insurance, the Round House roof and ceiling were restored this week.
You can earmark your donation to storm recovery using our online giving portal, Network for Good; or by noting on your check mailed to African Christian College; PO Box 70033; Albuquerque, NM 87197.
