The students in our Class of 2012 graduate on 6 December. We’ve asked them to reflect on their time on our campus as they graduate. This first installment is a self-described love letter to ACC from Justice Nherera, a student from Zimbabwe. Justice’s wife, Tsitsi, is also a student at ACC.
The moment I heard about you, African Christian College, although I was in a far country, Zimbabwe, I developed a great desire to see you, meet and dine with you.
Throughout, my preparations to meet you were not easy especially crossing over the two borders to finally be in an intimate relationship with you. Looking back, I don’t regret what I lost. However, you are worth the price.
O what a great companion, care giver and coach you are. Surely I cannot compare you to anyone else. You are unique. For the twenty-two months that we have been in this relationship I have learnt the following from and through you:
- Time management
- Planning
- Aptitude
- Honesty
- Perseverance
- Critical thinking
- smartness
- Resilience
- Humility
- Creativity and innovation
Yes! You made me ‘the man’ whom you wanted me to be. With no doubts, transformation has taken place in me. I now don’t really know who I was before I met you but I know one thing for certain: of the new me that now exists (Eph 4:22-24). God, I thank you for bringing me into this relationship. African Christian College– how beautiful and charming you are. No one can resist you even at first sight.
To my friends out there I advise you to make time to know her. I am a living testimony of what she is capable of. Nevertheless, you won’t regret it. “I am the LORD, the God of all mankind. Is anything too hard for me?” (Jer 32:27)
